Prospective Versus Retrospective Ai In Live Dermatopathology Workflows

Summary: Artificial intelligence (AI)-based lesion classification has been studied extensively through retrospective studies. However, prospective evaluation in a live clinical workflow is the gold standard for real-world performance. Here, we compare prospective validation results at a dermatopathology lab using diagnostic AI support with retrospective validation results at two sister laboratories where diagnostic AI support is not in use. Our goal is to demonstrate that the AI model maintains high accuracy across different dermatopathology laboratory environments.
